What is a Laboratory Information System (LIS)?
An LIS is the software that runs a laboratory end to end: patient and test registration, barcoded sample collection and accessioning, analyser results, validation and approval, the final report, and billing. It is the operational record of everything the lab does — and, for accreditation, the evidence that it was done correctly.
Which analysers can connect to the Medvis LIS?
Analysers connect over the two standard laboratory protocols, HL7 and ASTM. Results flow into the LIS automatically, which removes manual re-keying and the transcription errors that come with it. Existing instruments generally do not need replacing.
Does the LIS support NABL quality requirements?
Quality control runs continuously — Westgard rules, Levy-Jennings charts and CV% tracking — alongside a full audit trail. The quality evidence an NABL assessment expects accumulates as a by-product of daily work rather than being assembled before an audit.
Can we buy the LIS on its own, without occupational health?
